Sarah McKittrick Sethi, DMA
Awarded the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Bassoon Performance from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University in 2013, Sarah was also inducted into the music honor society Pi Kappa Lambda, Epsilon Omicron Chapter, in 2009. Sarah also holds a Master of Music degree in Bassoon Performance from The Catholic University of America in 2007 and a Bachelor of Music degree in Applied Music, Bassoon from the Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester in 2005. Sarah has performed extensively across the US, Europe, and Asia in solo, chamber, and orchestral settings.
Sarah is excited to be out and about again in the NYC-area chamber music and orchestral communities post-Covid. She is looking forward to continuing to make new arrangements for her chamber music group/project Ensemble Aventure, founded in 2011, and participate in collaborations to bring beautiful music to anyone who likes to listen.
Sarah's performance experience includes the Brooklyn Symphony from 2018-2020, the Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Julien Benichou from 2008-2013, as well as the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, the Summer Opera Theatre Company, and the Astoria Music Society. She participated in the Singapore Sun Festival in 2008, where she performed in the Festival Orchestras with singer Kiri Te Kanawa and actor Geoffrey Rush.
Sarah's main analytical work focused on American composer Allan Blank (1925-2013) and the role thematic repetition plays in the communication of meaning. From this starting point, Sarah continues to explore how to create meaningful, engaging experiences for performers, audiences, and students of all interests and ages.
